I'm still a novice re forums.
I sent a previous post asking how to put an animated avatar on forums. What I am having trouble with is putting my own animated avatar on this forum.
It is 14.2kb and 130 x 130 pixels
It is probably to big a size but I need help to reduce it if necessary.
When I edit my profile I have a tick in Personalised picture,
Do I need to put the path 'C:\Windows\My Documents/ Flying Pigeon, the latter being my avatar.
I tried selecting 'I have my own personalised picture' and entering the path but it didn't work
I also went to 'Additional Options' on the 'Reply' page and entered the path to my avatar
I would also like to know what 'Show board description inside boards' and 'Show child boards etc....
I can't fathom out the 'Testing avatars' option either.
Ok, first of all there are no default avatars on this forum. So you have to have an avatar stored somewhere that it may retrieved via the internet. There is no way to upload an avatar directly to the forum ('C:\Windows\My Documents/ Flying Pigeon' will not work). Hopefully you will use the easyavatar.com avatar hosting service to do this.
'Show board descriptions inside boards' should show the board descriptions on every page you see while on that board, not just on the main page. 'Show child boards' will let you know if there are sub-categories within a board on each page you see. You can play around with the settings to see what they do. Currently there are no child boards anywhere so don't waste any time with that one.
'Testing' avatars simply means that you can set your avatar and hit the 'refresh' button on your browser to see it change ie. rotate through your avatars in order or pick one at random. If you do that now you should see my avatar change each time.
If you would like, email your avatar as an attachment to
easyavatar@cfl.rr.com and I will see what I can do.
